The BBQ Lunch

Stopping halfway through a halloumi wrap and fries, and losing interest in finishing it just because I paid for it.

I had another similar experience at work.

A BBQ food truck was there and I fancied a halloumi and Portobello wrap with wild skin-on fries.

So I bought one.

I ate the wrap and about half the fries.

Then I was full.

The old version of me would have had another argument with myself:

You’ve paid for it.

It’s only a few more chips.

Don’t waste food.

This time I stopped.

I planned to save some of the wrap for the next day.

The fries weren’t really worth saving because cold fries are generally an offence against potatoes, so those went in the bin.

I wasn’t particularly pleased about wasting them.

But I was less interested in eating them simply because I’d paid for them.

That’s progress.

Not victory.

Progress.
